application tips:

  1. Supervisor and program director: Dr. Brenda (IJ) Anosike

Letters of rec:

Q: How many letters should I get?

A: 3 letters + 1 from program directors (either Dr. McCabe or Dr. Broder)

Q: Does the specialty to which your LOR is assigned matter?

A: It is the specialty to which you want to assign your LOR (aka what you are applying for). It is NOT viewable by the program, only you so if you are applying to multiple subspecialties (more for residency), you know which letter you want to assign to which subspecialty.

Personal statement tips:

Curriculum vitae:

Q: Should I include my medical school experiences on my CV?

A: Most of it can be taken out unless it is an exceptional experience or explains something else that will stay in your CV (awards etc.)

Important ERAs tips

If you are listing a publication on your ERAS application, please see the available options listed in the 2 screenshots above. Especially please note that there is an option for “Peer Reviewed Journal Articles/Abstracts (Other than Published).” This means that if you have submitted an article or an abstract and are still waiting for a response, you can still list it as part of your application.

You can also select what the status of the publication is in a separate section.

This is what will appear in the section where you request/assign LoR. Only the areas with the red star will appear on your application. The section that says “Specialty to which this letter will be assigned” is for only you to view and is relevant for people applying to multiple subspecialties (probably more likely used for residency applicants).

Remember these are all of the documents you will need to gather for your application, so start putting things together sooner rather than later. ABSITE does not pertain to us.

This section caused some confusion. Your Program Director and Supervisor will most likely be the same person.
